Exactly what the title says! Mostly horror manga, but I'll include some other ones that people enjoy as well Kago Shintaro (mangaka) Writes an array of gory, hilariously dark shorts. NSFW. Kazuo Umezu (mangaka) A horror manga icon, as well as one of Junji Ito's inspirations. The Drifting Classroom is highly recommended. Hideshi Hino (mangaka)
Another horror mangaka. Twisted and strangely funny. Suehiro Maruo (mangaka) Guro and ero guro type manga. Not for the faint of heart, NSFW. Fuan no TaneVery similar to some of Junji Ito's stuff, since it has a lot to do with japanese urban legends and creepy stuff. This whole series is just a bunch of 1-2 page comics about creepy stuff happening like "if you have a feeling someone is watching you... maybe you shouldn't look behind you or else..." I Am A HeroA zombie/survival horror manga about a MANGAKA who gets caught up in this apocalypse. Its a very modern and realistic zombie manga as in there isn't anything extraordinary about the characters (except for the zombie part haha). Parasyte A guy who infected by an alien who takes over his body and befriends him, and there are other aliens infecting other humans and they usually stay disguised in order to kill and eat humans. IbitsuA ghostly girl wants an older brother. HideoutFor one couple a vacation goes horribly awry.

Suehiro Maruo (mangaka) www.guromanga.com/author/maruo-suehiro#.UbvSc_m1Elc (LINK NSFW) He is my favourite artist and mangaka. He does a lot of ero/guro work and was an influential contributor to GARO magazine. Not for the faint of heart! His story 'The Strange Tale of Panorama Island' was just recently released in english by Last Gasp (translated by Ryan Sands, who you may recognize from Itou and Maruo translations online) and it is amazing. I suggest reading everything he has produced but here are a few: shoujo tsubaki (little camilla girl) the laughing vampire gichi gichi kun rise of the jap (translated and published in 'Underground Comics Japan' anthology rose coloured monster

Kazuo Umezu (mangaka)A horror manga icon, as well as one of Junji Ito's inspirations. The Drifting Classroom is highly recommended. This is amazing! I was intrigued by the mention of this man being an inspiration to Junji Ito, and now I can't stop reading The Drifting Classroom. Grateful for this thread

Grateful for this thread i really enjoyed 'left hand of god, right hand of the devil' by Kazuo Umezu. Its much more graphic and maaybe more psychologically terrifying than The Drifting Classroom. I've also been in the middle of 'Fourteen' by K.U. for awhile but I still haven't finished it... so long... apparently it was during the production of Fourteen that K.U. injured his hand and couldn't draw by the end of it! some other horror suggestions: Parasyte by Hitoshi Iwaaki I am a Hero by Kengo Hanazawa Fuan no Tane by Nakayama Masaaki Cool, I'll add them! Do you have a brief description of the style (kind of like what I did with the list) that I could add underneath? Personally I couldn't get into Parasyte. Felt too battle-manga-ish to me. I haven't gotten around to I Am A Hero yet, but I've heard good things. The last one I haven't heard of at all. I'll give it a look when I've got some time on my hands!

I also haven't finished it. it is about a guy who gets infected by an alien who takes over his body and befriends him, and there are other aliens infecting other humans and they usually stay disguised in order to kill and eat humans. but our main character becomes friends with the alien in his body because it didn't infect his brain it only infected his hand. its cool but yeah there are a lot of battles its not that scary or creepy. i dont' know a lot about the authors or anything

On the subject of Umezu Kazuo, there was an episode of "Umezu Kazuo's Horror Theater" (mentioned in the Movie Adaptations thread) about a girl who is starving herself from excessive dieting and eventually eats her boyfriend. I would love to read the original but can't find it anywhere, which of his volumes can it be found in?

If noone mentioned yet, "Ibitsu" is another horror manga, also "Hideout" is a good one.
