The Face Burglar is one of my favorite JI shorts. It's interesting how we kind of thinking of our faces as defining us to such an extent that having it "borrowed" by another person could be so unnerving. On the other hand, she couldn't help it, it was just something that happened when she stayed around other people. Kind of an interesting moral dilemma: does she lock herself away in order to make people more comfortable, or does she have a right to the same freedom that the other characters share despite her ability?

LOL! A friend and I were reading Ito in Starbucks and we were glad the wifi there blocks porn so that we wouldn't be embarrassed in public by the ads on that site! I liked The Face Burglar for the bit where the teacher says that Kamei is not a real student, she just shows up and no one knows who she is and can't do anything about her. It reminded me of a more sympathetic Tomie

The face burglar honestly creeped me out, It was well done and the ending was traumatizing, Now she won't be able to get a new face, think about it, when she hangs around people she changes to that person, who would want to hang around that hideous thing?
My prediction she probably will live forever as a monster, or actually kidnap people and steal their faces.
10/10 story. Completely loved it.

That's an interesting view on the story.. I never really thought of her that way. Though I believe she has every right to go out and do normal things as other people, I think society will just take a turn for the worst and shun the one that is different, as sad as it may seem. I found it rather sad how the one person who wants to see her as normal person was unable to do anything to help as she was being surrounded by all the masks.
