What do you think is Junji Ito's most disturbing (or scary) manga?
Though I may get creeped out it is pretty hard to scare me with scary stories or scary comics but one I did get really scared by was the arc involving the women and their babies in Uzumaki. I was reading full daylight with friends as well and I was really freaked out. Another one would be the 'Snail' from Uzumaki which was just gross, Glyceride fitting into the same category. I also thought 'Ancestors' had a pretty disturbing ending considering he raped a comatose girl like some weird caterpillar guy?
I may have forgotten a lot since I only reread my favourites but what do you think they are?

I don't think anything by Ito really disturbed me much, but Glyceride grossed me out a lot. I shudder whenever I see a mangacap.

I think the only story that disturbed me while reading it was Secret of the Haunted House. That Binzo stare, man.

Personally, I think the only story to really unnerve me was The Window Next Door/The Adjacent Window. I have a deep fear of windows at night, due to the thought of something looking in that shouldn't be instead of the standard blackness. Junji Ito really nailed me with that one!
Love it.

I'm tempted to say Amigara fault because that was really the first one I ever read that struck me. But I think my real answer would be The Thing that Drifted Ashore. Weird dreams, a creature from unknown depths, people that survive in that creature? Close to realistic, and imagine if you were one of the people that were inside that thing gods know how deep in the ocean? My fascination with the deep sea might also factor into it

Definitely Glyceride. I still haven't gotten over that horrible page ;;; I never dared to look back. but the rest are just really fascinating and always a fun ride!
I think all of you have good reasons to find some of the stories scary, which I believe stems from it being relateable to real life!
The untranslated Youkai Kyoushitsu is giving me the creeps;; but the story was interesting. The cover page is really awesome though.

The thing That Drifted Ashore really got me and my friends didn't really understand me when I said when I found it really interesting and scary. I really imagined what it would be like to spend years in that thing and see all the creatures haha. I have an overactive imagination I guess. I really love The Window Next Door and I think it was one of my first so it creeped me out a lot haha. I have a deep fear of accidentally turning on a camera or looking in a mirror in the dark when I'm alone in case I see something behind me.

I think the most disturbing one for me was "Anything But a Ghost" and from Tomie, "Boy" and "Babysitter." "Glyceride" is disgusting but doesn't unsettle me
The last couple of pages of "Mold" have stuck in my brain too ...

Unfortunately there's not yet an English translation of Mold so I haven't been able to read it ;A;

I read it in Chinese, but I hope someone will translate it into English as well one day. There is no translation of "Second-Hand Records" linked anywhere and yet there's a summary on the wiki, perhaps someone has scanlated it after all and just never shared it?

"Glyceride" definitely wins the disgusting award. The art on that is just great and you can almost think you smell what it's like to be in that terrible place. "The Thing That Drifted Ashore" really stood out to me too. I think it's due in part to how little we've actually explored as far as the depths of our oceans and what's out there.
I'm a little biased towards it because I enjoy it so much, but I find "Army of One" to be pretty disturbing myself. Something about the lack of resolution. These impossible and terrible things keep happening and the source behind it never becomes entirely clear. You've got the weird radio message, the flyer bombings, murder scenes that defy logic and then it all spirals into this major out of control thing near the end.

I keep coming across people who interpret the ending to mean that Natsuko was responsible for EVERYTHING but she can't be. What about the planes, etc?
